Does this drive have its own power cable or is it powered by the same USB cable?
If it is powered by the same USB cable then try to connect it using powered USB hub. Often such problems occur when the drive does not get enough power.
If this does not help - open the box and connect the drive directly to the SATA port on some workstation.

Do I understand your answer correctly? You have tried it with a powered USB hub, right?
Then you need to disassemble the USB box and take the drive out of it. Connect it directly to free SATA port on any PC.

Yes ... I have taken out the hard disk from the external casing and connected to a usb connection having 2 connectors, still I found the same error.

Not USB, connect it via SATA cable directly to motherboard. If it fails there then your drive is really bad and you need to use recovery service.
