Secure log in 'box'

On a site that is using 443/https how can I check to see if the log in 'box' is secure as well. On a particular site it's a 'popup' so if I'm using F12 Developer Tools there is nothing appearing in the 'Console' when the log in box is invoked. Any simple way to check this?

Well it's a pop up to a new window - just asking for username and password. There is no toolbar: file edit etc. The title of the box is Windows Security. F12 doesn't do anything, and you can't go to an underlying web page unless you close this.

Somebody has sent me a screen shot showing the username and password of that user when logging in I assumed he was using the browser developer tools. IE 11, Win 7. Unfortunately I can't get in touch with him to confirm so I'm trying to validate this on my end.

Ok got it figured out. They're following a link on anther page we don't monitor. And from this link I can use the developer tools. Thanks.
