Intel Rapid Storage Technology RAID question

Hello,
I was wondering if anyone could give some input on choosing between RAID 1 and Recovery volumes. I have two 6 TB disks that are going to be used to store files and low priority programs. All I need is redundancy since they are rotating drives. RAID 1 would work fine for uptime but Recovery is also an option that will use RAID 1 on demand it would seem.

Is there a reason to select one over the other? Any performance benefits or detraction from either approach?

Thanks for the help.

Well I kinda got a direction.

You can't create recovery volumes unless one of the drives is less than 1.3 TB and they're both 6 TB.

I went with the RAID 1. Thank you for the help though. I had read that post. :)
