Sort order not as I expected

Where would I check to see why, after I sorted newest to oldest, the quote #s wouldn't be 1163, 1162, 1161 (all written on same day)?User generated imageIt is in the correct order in the subreport, but not in the report?!

Seems quite trivial, but have found that it's better to understand why something might not be quite right or as I expected, sooner than later, before building on top of issue.  Or maybe this isn't an issue?  Would just like clarification or confirmation.

Hopefully simple answer (& easy points)!  Thanks?

Are you sorting by date or by order number?

By Date, but I would have thought it would've then sorted left to right with the quote # being the left-hand column?!
Since the order numbers are all created on the same day sort by the order number.

@ Edward - They aren't ALL on the date though, just the first 3.  I f I sorted by quote # first, it would throw off the newest to oldest sort
@ Rey - I'll try that again, but I think yst when I tried it threw add'l line in the report for the add'l sort(?), can't remember for sure.  AND I don't understand why the subreport is in the correct order (or at least what I expected), but not IN the report itself.
Be aware that sorting and grouping must be done through the report's sorting and grouping options.

If your doing this in a query which is used by the report, the sorting is ignored.

Jim, I KNEW THAT!  Aaargh, just forgot?!
Be aware that sorting and grouping must be done through the report's sorting and grouping options.
So I did sort by date in the subreport and it outputs as expected, as intended, but NOT in the report itself.  Why?  Do I need to something in the report regarding the sort of a subreport?

It's not a big deal, but I just happened to notice it and wondered if I needed to fix it and how.

Not sure I understand what you mean by that.

Jim -- will copy/paste stuff, hang on!
you do the sorting for report and subreport separately

OK, Jim ... here is piece of subrpt (quotes, all Reps), sorted by date.  Order appears to be as intended, as expected, newest to oldest, and by quote # within given date.User generated imageBut then why does it lose the order when used as a subrpt in the actual report (earlier image)?  The report is a weekly sales report by rep and the subrpt is linked on RepID.

Good grief.  I played around and THOUGHT I'd found the answer by ADDING a sort.  Then I went and re-read Rey's comment/solution and lo and behold, that's what he'd said!  Oy vey!  I think this makes the 2nd time I've not recognized a solution AS A SOLUTION!  d-uh!!!!
And what I'd tried yst that added an unwanted line was adding a group (vs a sort).

Thank you ... a little delayed!
