Configure 2 Servers with Crossover cable
I have 2 servers that one is used for backups, and the others is a server that the files from our SAN get copied to for backups. I want to connect the 2 servers together using a crossover cable, but the server still have to be able to get out to the internet. Each server has 2 NICs.
What do I need to enable on the NIC properties that the crossover cable is plugged into so it will not conflict with the other NIC?
What else do I need to do?
They are PowerEdge 2900
Running Server 2012 R2 Datacenter
NICs are - Broadcom NetXtreme (The build in ones)
Thank you

Actually, you shouldn't have had to do that (though it should work). You should be able to just plug in the network cable and wait a few seconds. "APIPA" - Automatic Private IP Address generates a random address in a class B network that starts with 169.254.x.x - see http://www.webopedia.com/TERM/A/APIPA.html
