Which is faster (powerful) CPU, Intel i7-3630QM or i7-7500U

We assume that by the larger number that the i7-7500U is more powerful than i7-3630QM.  However, we  noticed in each computer "System Information" that  there is a difference  in Core and Logical Processor, thus, help from EE to  understand this.

One notebook is:
Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-7500U CPU @ 2.70GHz, 2904 Mhz, 2 Core(s), 4 Logical Processor(s)

The other notebooks is:
Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-3630QM CPU @ 2.40GHz, 2401 Mhz, 4 Core(s), 8 Logical Processor(s)

Which is more powerful?

Yes, for complex loads, the second one with more cores is much better suited.

@Ben
It's clear you've never own such cars, so you can never appreciate the benefits, neither do you understand them. Clearly benchmarks do not prove anything, workload is what matters yes L1-3 caches helps, however what are we trying to prove here? Which is better at the task, so if that's the case then the second one is. Which planet aren't we not going to do multitask, when are we only confined to single threaded task. Analyze the situation n report appropriately.

Thanx All!  Super Info!

FYI:
This question came about because one of our personnel purchased an ultrabook without doing consulting.  the ultra came with a i7-7500U  while his previous notebook came with i7-3630QM.   Since this person in his old notebook uses at least one (1) Hyper-V machines everyday and uses offices apps, we think a mistake was made purchasing the ultrbook based on the info gather here.

Again thanx!
