VMWare ESXi 6.5 - HP NC523SFP 10GbE issues

Hello everyone,

I got a new funny issue with my VMWare ESXi 6.5 homelab. The HP NC523SFP is officially supportet thru the HCL of VMWare as far as I can tell on http://www.vmware.com/resources/compatibility/detail.php?deviceCategory=io&productid=19311&vcl=true

With a fresh install of 6.5.0d and the vib of the nqlcnic version 6.0.63 driver the card is recognized. Gets an IP from the DHCP server, is pingable, but all the web services, esxi services are unavailable.

If I do a fresh install of 6.0 U3 with the vib qlcnic version 6.1.191 card becomes available and is working properly...

Any ideas?

Cheers,
Yves

edit:// also the FW 4.20.20 which is mentioned is no where to be found my card is on 4.20.01 which is according to HP the latest fw for this card http://h20565.www2.hpe.com/hpsc/swd/public/detail?swItemId=MTX_c490fefa2eb24c4ba21d48b064#tab4

With issues like these where a device is on the HCL, it's time to query with VMware and HPE support, to get an answer.

If it's on the HCL, it should work, unless it's been dropped from the HCL, and HCL has not been updated.

We've got many outstanding issues with VMware and vendors, where a device is listed on the HCL, but refuses to work, which then needs VMware Engineering Support/Escalation to check with hardware vendor.

VMware, a software company founded in 1998, was one of the first commercially successful companies to offer x86 virtualization. The storage company EMC purchased VMware in 1994. Dell Technologies acquired EMC in 2016. VMware’s parent company is now Dell Technologies. VMware has many software products that run on desktops, Microsoft Windows, Linux, and macOS, which allows the virtualizing of the x86 architecture. Its enterprise software hypervisor for servers, VMware vSphere Hypervisor (ESXi), is a bare-metal hypervisor that runs directly on the server hardware and does not require an additional underlying operating system.
