Excel Web Add-in Where is Visual Basic used

Hi

I have just created a new Excel Web Add-in under the Visual Basic section in Visual Studio 2017.
So far I can only see JavaScript used with an xml page. Where is Visual Basic actually used?

Thanks

I am baffled. Then why do they put it in the Visual Basic area? Even the people at Microsoft head office here in Johannesburg told me I could use VB.net in such a project. This is very disappointing. Also in the project you can add a VB.net module

I don't know if this will be any help.

Script Lab, a Microsoft Garage project, works in Excel, Word, and PowerPoint (Office 2013 and later, Office Online, and Office for Mac).

I'm not sure I understand your question. You have created a Visual Basic (VB) project, in which the default language is that. So, for example, when you insert a new Class, the language is VB. This would be opposed to a C# project. If you're wondering where you can write VB, well, it's in a VB class. However, if you're asking where you can write Visual Basic for Applications (VBA), the answer is you cannot.

Script Lab, as linked by Roy, is an awesome tool if you are a VBA programmer going towards Office Add-Ins and need to learn the JavaScript API. I would also highly recommend a book by Michael Zlatkovsky, https://leanpub.com/buildingofficeaddins.

Here are some other resources:

I'm not sure what else to tell you here, as your question is a little ambiguous.
