Outlook PST (cloud) backup

Right, I have been trying to identify the best way to manage PST's.

My company is VERY heavy on Outlook Data files. We are running a domain with Exchange.

We try very hard to keep mail files to a respectable size. Therefore we ensure the users archive data off to PST files.

Obviously Microsoft do not support and discourage putting PST on a network drive. But they are very important and I don't want to risk losing the data if a machine fails.

I want to know the best ways to manage this? I was looking at the possibility of cloud backup software on each client PC that can backup changes to PST files... I understand some cloud solutions do this (without having to backup the whole PST every time there is a small change to a PST... does anyone know of any products that work well? (we do have a carbonite account) I want a low administration product.

We are in the process of upgrading to Exchange 2016 and office 2016 in the office. Am i right in understanding there is a way to archive now in Exchange so the users mailbox can stay within the limits? is this data easy to access by the user?

Thanks for your help in advance...

Hi Karl

Thanks for your response, particularly the highway analogy, especially because I know people who love to say that to me and I cant wait for them to get hit by a truck!

#1 Yes we are talking about open files in outlook that they access.
#2 Thanks I will take a look at the product
#3 I'll have a look at the articles and see if anyone drops in other info whilst I'm looking at it all
