Questions on USB 4 ports hub

We purchase a Aukey CB-H5 USB with 4 USB 3.0 Ports for 5Gbps Data Transfer.  A colleague just mention that we should not connect 2 or more external (1 TB) drives to this USB device due to it's electrical limit and can damage on of the drives or the USB.  Also, that we should find the limit in voltage if we were to use all USB ports.

What is EE opinion on this matter?

I have a USB V3 6 port hub on my desktop and it looks after my monitor (touch), camera. disk drive or 2 on demand. It has a power adapter that plugs in behind the desk and the hub does what I need. Great way to fly if you can plug it in.
