The only Image you can use is the image you originally had or if you install a fresh copy of Windows 10. If the image you had was from another PC it may not work.

John, do you have the link to the Windows 10 tool. If he uses that he may be able to reinstall the license he has, possibly.

So instead of using the upgrade from the Link Microsoft Provided you used an image that you had already. If you would have used the link provided at least once during the upgrade period then the system would have been registered as licensed. I do not think you will be able to upgrade to Windows 10. You can try the link John provided and do a clean install to see if it works but if you get prompted with that screen again you may have to purchase a license.

Somehow they sorted out the licensing for you and without them, you had a licensing / activation issue as mentioned farther back here

Agreed John, it actually wasn't an attempt to knock Microsoft Support in sharing that story, just commenting on Ramid's comment that the digital license will automatically activate when you connect to the Internet. It's designed to work that way, but many times it doesn't. :)

Can someone explain this error message to me.
