Yahoo to Gmail e-mail custom folder & messages migration inquiry

Greetings wise wizards of EE:

I'm helping a friend who has a "premium" Yahoo e-mail account ($20/year or so), that he has used for approximately 20 years. He finally has decided to switch to another provider, due to concerns over security, and is interested in Gmail. He has been using Yahoo web mail all that time, and has hundreds of custom folders on the Yahoo server, along with thousands of messages, all of which he wants to keep. Contact migration seems fairly straight forward based on my research, but not so for custom folders & messages.

Here are my questions:

1. What is the best way to migrate custom folders and messages from Yahoo to Gmail?

2. I assume that the custom folders & messages are COPIED to Gmail, so that the originals will remain on the Yahoo server, yes?

3. Once the migration is complete, my friend doesn't want his old Yahoo account to become a "zombie" account, so what is the best way of deleting/ending his Yahoo account?

4, He has 1,800 contacts... I've heard somewhere in my travels that in terms of e-mailing his contacts with the new address, to avoid spam filters, he should send a mass e-mail message with no more than 50 contacts per message, no more than 100 contacts per hour, no more than 200 per day... is that true, and is there a better way to send a mass e-mail to his contacts that just a standard message?

Any help in this regard would be greatly appreciated.

Many thanks in advance,

Zovoth
