Simple IF statement in Word

I need to write a simple IF statement in Word.

If the value of the Comments field is blank, do/print nothing. If the Comments field contains a value, print J/N a space and then the contents of Comments.

Looking at Word's help file thoroughly confused me. Any help would be appreciated.

I was able to retrieve and modify this from on old Word doc.

{ IF { TITLE } > " " " { TITLE  \*MERGEFORMAT }"}

It works, but produces a blank line even when there is no value in TITLE

P.S. Trying to discern how to delete the first question.
