How to integrate external applicaitons into Camtasia project?

Hi, I would like to create a Camtasia PowerPoint project, where I can play a video, exit out to a different applicaiton and then return to the Camtasia video.

More specifically, I would create a PowerPoint presentation that explains a specifc subject. Then, after a few slides, I would like to allow the User to exit out to a 3D software, where the User would view a 3D graphic display of what they just learned about, and once they finish viewing the 3D simulation, they would return to the Camtasia PowerPoint presenatation.

Is there a way to "exit out" of the Camtasia PowerPoint presentation and then return?  Or, is there another way of doing what I would like to do?

Thank you,

What Camtasia version do you use?
The Camtasia PowerPoint is only an add-on inside the PowerPoint which lets you to record the Power Point slides and convert them into video.
I do it different, without that add-on.
Open Power Point presentation, start Camtasia screen recorder, start the power point presentation with F5, at the desired moment pause Camtasia screen recorder, switch to whatever other application you want, click pause/continue to record on Camtasia recorder, when finish with your 3D then pause again Camtasia recorder, switch back to PowerPoint, start recording and continue the presentation with slides Shift+F5. Then in the end stop recording and edit video in Camtasia video editor by cutting unwanted frames or by adding arrows, blocks, comments....and finally convert/save it as video mp4.

Hi Viki2000, thank you very much for the advice. - To first answer your question I would be using Camtasia 9, which is the latest release.

However, I may not have explained my question properly. - What I want to do is below:

1). Play a video training session (say...Chapter 6 "Architectural Design" --- Then at the end of that video do the following.
2). Allow the user to launch a 3D graphics application where they can do a fly-through of a building.
3). Then return and watch the Chapter 7 video.

So, in essence, I want to stop the Camtasia playback and allow the user to go use another application.

>>> Camtasia -- (Something else) -- Camtaisa -- (Something else again) -- Camtasia.

Alternatley, I would need to know when a Chapter ends in Camtasia to be able to trigger another application to begin.

Hope this clarifies my question.
That means interactivity from viewers side and that may imply the usage of the TechSmith SmartPlayer + video upload on Screencast.com as described here:

I never worked with TechSmith SmartPlayer.
May is good to ask in parallel also here: https://feedback.techsmith.com/techsmith

Thank you. Although I don't think I'm going to be able to do exactly what I wanted to, you suggestion helped me a lot with something I needed to do in this respect.
Glad to hear it.

To clarify, I'm thinking you use PowerPoint to drive most things. Add your video, put in the link to the other object as described above, and then add the remaining video.

In PPT you can use the video editing tools to trim off the last half of the video on the first slide and the first half of the video on the last slide.

You could also use animation to launch the 3D application automatically, or you can leave the trigger-click.

Just a few ideas. But yes, I think it's not exactly what you were thinking to do.
