Domain Controller (Windows Server 2008r2) - when we try to login the server becomes unresponsive, stuck at login screen.

When we try to login to the Domain Controller of one of our costumers the screen gets stuck and we are not able to contact the server in any way. Other users after this are not able to login to the domain anymore until we restart the server.

It is a virtual server Windows 2008R2. We have Kaseya Monitoring on it + liveconnect, but are not able to connect through there either. RDP does not work. Login directly through VMSphere does not work.

We tried to login in safe mode with and without network but it still gets stuck at the login screen.

We are however able to access the files from a network connection. Do you know what the issue could be? We haven't been able to find much in the events log for security, Application and System which could be causing this issue.

Perhaps a corrupt profile? Do you have another administrative account that you can log in with? If so, I would suggest just backing up any important files from that user directory, then removing the profile. After that, try logging in again.

We use RDP, Kaseya and Vsphere Console to attempt to login. I have now created a new account on the server with the same result. The server became unresponsive and was stuck at the login.

We are able to use the command prompt from the Kaseya Live Connect, if it helps. I will now attempt to change the password for the Directory Services Restore Mode.

If there is anything else we can try please let us know. Many thanks for the quick responses.

I am able to login now from the safe mode with network. However I have not yet been able to locate the issue. The event logs show a lot of different errors, but none related to failed logins/services as far as I have seen.

I will keep digging further, if there is any more suggestions of where I can look or any other help we can get in this area would be appreciated.
Another thing to check - make sure IPv6 is enabled on the network adapters (even if they're not configured).
It seems like one of the attached devices was causing this issue. We deleted all non essential devices from the vSphere and it now runs smooth as ever. Thanks for your help all.
