Windows 10 tries to shutdown and update then undoes the update before shutdown
I have Windows 10 and when I shut it down it starts to install updates and then it says it could not install and undoes the update.
How can I fix this, so the updates install properly. My computer is a year old ASUS with 16GB of RAM?
Thanks.

Can you tell me what update has been failing specifically?
Fix Windows Update errors by using the DISM or System Update Readiness tool.

if that didn't solve the case then Reset Windows Update and Reinstall all updates.

you can do a system restore to a date it was ok - then install the updates manually to find the bad one

Thanks. I did the download from the link to DISM. Somehow I got to "fix the problem". It updated to a newer version of Windows 10 and appears to be working after several reboots.
When you do that, it reinstalls Windows and keeps everything. So that is how it fixed it. The point above of hiding errant updates is for a current version. Upgrading as you did performs the same (similar) function.

I am trying to close question. I do not see that option anywhere.
There should be a CLOSE button, bottom left of the posts.
Thanks very much for following up.
First see if picks out problem downloads, hide them and try updating again. If updates fail, go back to wushowhide.diagcab and run it again, hiding the updates that failed.
Now try running Windows Updates again.
Make sure drivers and Anti Virus applications are both up to date.
