Unable to install Canon shared printers on Windows 7 PC's

A few week back we started having issues installing Canon copier/printers on Windows 7 PC’s only at one of our multiple locations (other locations work).

On the Windows 7 PC’s we try to add the printer through Devices and Printers\Add a printer\Add a network, wireless or Bluetooth printer\the printer that I want isn’t listed\select a shared printer by name\ \\printsvr\printname\next
It gets to Looking for a driver…. and give an error Connect to Printer, Windows cannot connect to the printer. The specified network name is no longer available.
or
It gets to Downloading the driver… and just hangs there or gives an error Windows cannot connect to the printer, Operation failed with error 0x0000000a.

We tried adding the printer by finding it in Windows Explorer \\printsvr then right clicking on the printer name and clicking connect and getting the same results.

We tried adding the printer locally just to get the driver installed then deleting it and adding it again through the network.  That worked for a couple but then all of the sudden that stopped working.

At this location we have about 10 Canon copiers installed on a print server (Server 2012 R2 Std) and about 5 different modules (Canon iR-ADV 8505i, Canon iR-ADV 6255, Canon iR 1730iF, etc.). We use the UFRII drivers 64 and 32 bit. We’ve tried different versions of drivers (v21.80, v21.70, v30.00, etc.) with the same result.

On a side note: every time we change a printer driver on any printer it wants us to update the drivers on all printers on the network at that location, so we have to go to all PC’s and do this.

We have multiple locations (subnets) with a single domain and each location has their own print server but (again) only one location is having this issue. We have a group policy setup to allow non-admin printer install (Point and Print Restrictions) and the print server name is entered.

We even setup a new print server at that location and installed all the canon copiers/printers on it and we still have the same issue.

Thanks for your help.

Thanks John,
I will try this and let you know.
Thanks. Please keep us posted. We have Xerox, Ricoh and HP networked to Windows 7 machines but no Canon. So I am using ideas from my experience with these installs.

Hi, Sorry for the delay.  Were do I find the "Canon printer driver package"? I looked on Canon website but all I see is that I can download drivers for the specific printer/copier in which i have a few different ones  UFRII v21.80, v21.70, v30.00, etc.

Thanks for all your help.
