DFS with Redirected Folders between 2 sites

Last Modified: 2017-11-24
Currently have 2 Domain Controllers running Server 2016 standard @ 2 different sites.  I configured a name space for the redirected folders called xyz.local\FR.  I can configure a DFS replication group between the sites, but haven't found a good documentation on if this is supported or if it is best practice.

My goal is to just have both sites have the same redirected folders user data in both locations.  So we if we have a user travel to site a, and logs in on a workstation, they get their desktop at the local server so it doesn't go over the vpn tunnel from where they primary reside in.

Is this the best way to accomplish this?  Or should I go a different path?
