Configuring an individual SATA drive
Running Windows 7 Professional SP-1 32-bit, with an Asus P8H67-M PRO-CSM motherboard. I have a relatively new SATA HDD and DVD, and one legacy SATA HDD which I do not wish to replace. Having recently configured ATA for AHCI in the Bios, the newer drives perform noticeably better, but the legacy drive no longer works at all. Is there any way to configure that single drive in IDE mode, and leave the others in AHCI?

You cannot configure AHCI vs IDE by drive as David as pointed out.
What motherboard? I have seen where SATA 0-3 are one way, and 4-7 are able to be set different.

Is the most current BIOS installed on this board?

Thanks to all experts for comments. I replaced the legacy drive with a brand new one (same model). It works when the ATA Bios is set to IDE. The latest BIOS is installed. I understand from your input that this motherboard has a global setting for ATA.
One final thought... Is there a such a thing as a PCI-e SATA card, which could connect to the legacy HDD, and be configured for IDE, distinct from the main board?

Thank you Jason. I'm not sure I understood the last sentence in your comment. My thought was to run the newer model HDD and DVD directly off the motherboard, and the legacy HDD off the controller card.
You could get a PCI-e SATA controller, configure it for IDE, and *should* work fine.
EDIT: You and Jason said the same thing in terms of which drives would be connected to which controller.
