In SQL Server 2016, R is added by default. In SQL Server 2017, you must select a language to add. You can select either R or Python, or enable both.

Hi Huseyin,

I'm sorry but from your comments I don't think you ever worked with Microsoft R Server at all.

My comment is far from being a repetition/summary of yours as I didn't tell the OP to download nothing as he shouldn't if he already has MSSQL 2016 setup media. MS R Server is already there and can be installed as a SQL Server 2016 feature.

Also SSMS isn't needed to work with MS R Server so there's no need to download and install it.

And at last, Experts shouldn't only post links and tell: "here you go, read it and you will be ok". We should provide personal comments that add value to our answers.

Cheers
