Outlook constantly asking for credentials

Hi, we have recently migrated a load of mailboxes from a hosted Exchange 2010 environment to a 365 environment. Email is passing fine and generally all users are working ok. However, even after removing previously existing 'Mail' profiles and re-adding the mailboxes with their newly assigned passwords, several users are now getting the credentials screen continuously popping up, even though when entered the 'remember my credentials tick box is checked.

If you then close or cancel this window the 'Connected to Exchange' is replaced by 'Needs Password' so we then have to enter details again. We have found that if you simply drag the credentials pop-up window off screen it will sit there happily for most of the time. However, on occasions mail will stop coming through and a genuie requirement to enter login credentials is required.

I have renamed any old 'autodiscover' xml files and have removed any generic credentails from credential manager but this has not been successful.

I see a whole bunch of Inference files in the same folder but don't know what these are.

Please help.

Usually it is credential manager that causes this.  But you said you wiped all passwords?

And you decommissioned the old exchange server? You're not connecting to it by mistake?

Could be a DNS issue. What IP do you get if you ping autodiscover?

Hi Blayney, thank you for your response.
The result i get from the the autodiscover ping is not the ip address of the old exchange.

We didn't decommission the 2010 exchange as it is still in use by other companies who have now taken ownership of the server. I no longer have any access to it.
