As for the image of the logic flow, yes, your in the right track Chris (see your pix below):
As for the interface program in PHP, makes great sense - "... will allow you to implement security measures in your app and the interface program to prevent people from breaking into your database."
This last one we would like some links to read on for internalizing this portion of the project.
