Exchange server take over
Hi
the company I work for have taken over another company with a SBS, I am installing another server and joining them to our domain and taking out their SBS, they presently receive emails to the SBS but I want to use our exchange server (exchange 2012) and keep their email addresses the same, I have set up the emails on the exchange 2012 and now need to redirect emails to that exchange server, I've checked via MXtoolbox and found only PTR records set up.
My question is how do I set up the MX records so emails will be delivered to our server instead of the old SBS server?
thank you in advance.

It is possible the old org was using a pop3 connector to bring down the mail from their ISP or other holding site. In that case no MX record would have been necessary. In any case, you will need to add an MX record for their domain at their puplic DNS host, then add their "old" address as an alias to their account on your exchange server and mark it as default.
If they are not using the POP connector and if this is the same site, i.e. same public IP, no public MX record changes are necessary, but port forwarding of port 25 on the router needs to be change to point to the new server.
