Summing a Function variable
I have a report that I am using a sub form to retrieve a calculated value from a table. In the main form I have the correct value being retrieved for all the records in the column, but I need to perform some grouping on the total sum of the calculation. However, when I try to sum this column, Crystal Reports tells me it cannot sum this type of value.
Will doing a ToNumber function on this work possibly?
Here's what I'm using in the main form
WhilePrintingRecords;
Shared CurrencyVar myTotal;
myTotal
Then to get the right numbers I need, I'm using;
ToNumber ({InvcDtl1.ExtPrice}) - ({@MainFormula})
However, I still cannot sum this column.
Thank you,

I am try to sum this column to group the records by the top sales for the CustomerNumber group. The CustomerNumber group table will be sorted by the highest top 100 for years 2008 through 2016. I have a group for the CustomerNumber and a Date group. I had it all right, but then they requested that I take out the miscellaneous charges which I had to use a sub report to get this information, since there were multiple entries in some records for miscellaneous charges. There may be other ways to get this information rather than a sub report, but I'm not that experienced.
Thank you,

To get what you want, you will need to determine the miscellaneous charges in the main report or it may be possible to reverse the 2 reports.
Calculate the miscellaneous charges in the main report then pass them to the subreport.
Can you upload the report file?

I was able to finally get it by using a couple of more functions. The grouping doesn't seem to work so well anymore though.

You will have to use variables and formulas to do the summary. They won't be available for grouping and sorting.
What kind of grouping are you doing?
