VM running on snapshot is very slow and it is stuck on applying the computer settings.
Hi
We use VMware Vsphere client 5.5 and our Exchange servers has failed to remove the snapshot and it has 2 snapshots and running on the snapshot at the moment.
In the past in this situation the server was up and running although it was running on the snapshots.
But today it is very slow and i rebooted and after 30 Minutes it came to the Ctrl+Alt +del screen and I have logged and it is really taking ages to load the desktop .Not sure what is happening in the background. When i ping from my workstation i get the following.
Reply from 10.x.x.x: bytes=32 time=456ms TTL=128
Reply from 10.x.x.x: bytes=32 time=160ms TTL=128
Reply from 10.x.x.x: bytes=32 time=292ms TTL=128
Reply from 10.x.x.x: bytes=32 time=522ms TTL=128
Reply from 10.x.x.x: bytes=32 time=276ms TTL=128
Any help will be great.

Will do , i will leave it to complete the snapshot removal process.
Exchange server is not processing emails from last 18 hours and when i look at the task manger on this VM the CPU usage is 100% .

Thanks so much Andrew for you help.
"Well you now have to be patient and wait, depending on size, speed of datastore, this could take seconds, minutes, hours, days or weeks to complete now"
I waited patiently and the snapshot was removed successfully(although it took lot of time) and the mail server is up and running now.

I should have power off the VM and worked on the snapshot, but did the other way around.
The Exchange server was powered on state and i right clicked the VM - Snapshot manager- clicked Delete all and
and after 18 hours, it has progressed only to 7%.
Now sure what is going on as it is so slow. Now on the vsphere console if i log in to the VM and shutdown from there , wondering if it will speed up the removal process and also now sure if this could cause any problem to the exchange server, while the snapshot removal process.
If it has done snapshot removal only 7% in hours, and it may take many days to complete it will be very difficult for users to be without email for so long.
