How to insert page numbers in Google docs
I am not able to start page numbering from the first page in my Google docs, it starts on the second page. How can I correct this as I see no option to do so?
Also how do I centralise the page numbering in the footer rather than it appearing in the lower right of the footer?

Unfortunately I am unable to get this to work. I think there is no such feature to start numbering from the second page and if I try to edit the page number manually, it makes it the same number for all subsequent pages.

The problem is, i have converted an existing MS Word document to google docs format, and the numbering starts on the second page and I cannot get it to start on the first page.
I should also add, that at other times, the page number 2 starts on the second page but you might want to to start with the number 1 on the second page (if the first physical page is a contents page or title page and you dont want a number on there).

I uploaded a word with the page number only on the second page by clicking in the footer I got the the Checkbox to be able to Change the different page Footer Header

looking at the documentation it seems you have to uncheck "Different first page header/footer"
and place you cursor in the middle of the footer (Maybe Center Text)
