windows driver update command

hi,

do you know if there are command mode command let tells windows to update any windows driver it can apply to a PC if I give a sw path to that command as a parameter?

I found this one: https://superuser.com/questions/837117/update-driver-software-from-command-prompt

but it seems devcon.exe /rescan don't update device driver by the path we tell PC, right?

or this command:

devcon /m:\\Server01 rescan

by this link: https://docs.microsoft.com/zh-tw/windows-hardware/drivers/devtest/devcon-rescan?

I am not sure if the command can tell you if a reboot is necessary and how many driver has been update before this reboot, so if I see no driver updated anymore I don't run that command again and reboot. then I am done.

Your best bet would be to push it out via SCCM if you have that available

I mean we can do automated update or manually update from device manager, but I want to do it in command mode so that we can use SCOM to automated client PC's update.

can it be done  ?
Drivers for PC's are all different. You would need to catalogue your drivers in your update database. I have not see it done, but maybe someone has gone to the trouble.
ok, you mean can't run command to force PC to update device driver by using automate update option and let windows search itself ?
Yes. Automatic update may fine some, but by no means all drivers. You can use Windows Search to help. I prefer the Vendors Update software.
"Yes. Automatic update may fine some, but by no means all drivers.

so this command: devcon /m:\\Server01 rescan do nothing to help, right? it just rescan and nothing else?
If you go searching deeply through the Windows 10 download site, I found hundreds of just Realtek drivers. The problem is not simple and is clearly requiring lots of manpower by Microsoft to address this issue so Windows 10 can do driver updates.

sir . which link are you referring to ?
Microsoft.com,  Downloads and then look for the catalogue of updates.
LOL, tks. I think you are browsing very special page. tks.

You are very welcome and I was happy to help.
