Unable to start workstation service

Hi All, this is for an old Windows 2003 server. I get an error 1075 when trying to start the workstation service. I tried the reg fixes to no avail, I think I'm missing some files in Windows\system32 but I don't know what they are. Is there a way to do a restore or something? I really need some help.

Thanks.

Find the service

Remove the dependency

Repeat for the other control sets

Start the service

you could try to run SFC (it will scan and fix any corrupted system files)
SFC/SCANNOW

Don't do the above, that has nothing to do with this issue unfortunately

I found the entry for nis and deleted nis from the key. It then failed with this:
The Workstation service depends on the following nonexistent service: mrxsmb10
So I deleted that as well but it keeps coming back with that same error. A search through the registry found no results.
