That's a very big jump. Have you by chance tested it with 3.6.5 before migrating to 3.7.1?<br />

3.6.5 was out for quite a bit and that should be stable. 3.7.1 is relatively new, so it might not be fully supported yet.

Some part of the database have not updated correctly during the process.<br />
You can recreated the missing table / fields manually or try to update only VM <br />
Sometimes is related to the database prefix of VM which is maybe different from the settings<br />
Check PHP and MySQL logs to get more details about the errors<br />
Try comparing the old and the new database using winMerge or similar tool
