Disable Domain Group Policy forcing WSUS Updates

Have a client with a network where the original SBS Server running WSUS has passed away.

Group Policy is still locking down the Windows Update settings on each Domain Workstation.  I can individually switch Workstations to pull updates from the Microsoft via the Internet, but can't change the settings with respect to auto-updating, time of update, etc.

I assume there is one or more (Domain) Group Policies that need to be modified to remove all memory of WSUS and return workstations to being self-managed.  Can someone please advise?

Thanks,

Nathan

Might I add, that now relying on your users to keep on top of windows updates will never work. There will always be that user that will ignore them cause they're too busy :)

Thanks for the reply, Donald.

I actually did that step, which appears to restore Internet Only Updates, but I'm still unable to reconfigure the workstation to automatically check and update itself each day.

All of the CHANGE SETTINGS OPTIONS are locked out with SOME SETTINGS ARE MANAGED BY YOUR SYSTEM ADMINISTRATOR.

Or you could just install WSUS on the new server, or a VM server.   As has been said already, better than relying on users and gives you control of what and when is updated.
I third that :)
