email archiving on exchange 2010
hi experts,
so I have multiple users who's mailboxes are very large "20gb" and i'd like to archive emails that are older than 1 year. The problem is that these users are hard to get a hold of so that i can take control of their systems and do a manual archive. Is there a way to auto archive from exchange? or any other way to do it without contacting the uers?

hi MAS,
And with this option i don't have to touch their outlook profile or get them involved in any way correct?

--> Yes. Archive mailbox is only available online, it is not cached by the Outlook client.
It will be visible as below to the user after restarting outlook. Do not forget to add the archive database in the backup.

Yes standard edition will support only upto 5 databases.
Either you use diffeent database than the mailbox or create new one. It is recommended to have separate for Archive.

ok and maybe just a few more questions, I think i'm narrowing it down.
question: Where do I find the default retention policy installed with Exchange Server 2010?

Just remember, before you do it, archive data is not visible from handheld devices.
