Lower the volume for a specific MP3 file

Hello,

Is there a way to manipulate the settings of a specific MP3 file so that whenever it plays, the volume is considerably lower than the current system volume setting?

I use an app called Karen's Countdown Timer II which enables you to create alerts/reminders — either one-time or recurring — on a specific date and time. The app offers several options for what will occur at the designated time (eg pop-up a window, run a file, send an email, etc.) as shown here:

I have some MP3 files which contain a variety of very short (1-2 sec) sounds — similar to Windows system sounds. However, when I specify one of the files to be run at the time of the alert, the file plays, of course, at whatever volume level is currently set on my system.

I'd like to be able to set the volume — but just for that specific file — to a much lower and more subtle level. Is that doable?

By the way, does anyone know of a good app with the same function as above? The current app is quite old and unfortunately, the developer, Karen Kenworthy, passed some time ago. As a result, Karen's software is not being updated and support is not available.

Thanks
