Need structure for upcoming podcast

I plant to start a political podcast in the near future, but want to plan ahead so it can be successful.

I have lots of questions...

- What is the ideal length? 1 hour per week? Can it vary in length based on length of the content?

- What are some good ways to promote my podcast?

- Are there any income earning opportunities from a podcast with a lot of listeners?

- What are the listenership for some of the more successful podcasts?

- What kinds of "do's" and "don'ts" are there?

I could plan to apply some budget to promotion. If Facebook the best?

Thanks.

ASKER

Please explain...

General Structure:
5 Minutes News Blips
15-30 MInutes Hosts Debate the news
30 minutes Guest Speaker
10 minutes Hosts reflect on Guest Speaker.

Is this in addition to the one how "show"?

I know plenty, but I prefer not to talk about it here. I am looking for conventional models since that would help me gauge expectations...

I have so much to talk about, I may start with a one hour show each week, then add in smaller elements as I get a feel for it and start to get listeners.

How do you get feedback on their feelings about a show?
