Citrix desktop icons sometimes missing

Hi Citrix experts!

We're running Windows 7 on our local workstations and Citrix 6.5 on two Citrix servers of our hosting company. Workstations have installed Citrix Receiver 13.3.0.55 and are working in mode 'Passthrough authentication'. Normally, when they start their workstations and log on to the network, all Citrix apps defined for desktop appear within 5 to 10 secs. But sometimes, some users don't get their icons - only local icons (like trash or local browser etc.) are shown. Sometimes it helps to reboot, and after 3 or 4 reboots all missing icons appear, but sometimes it doesn't.
During the entire process the workstation can be pinged successfully, so network connectivity is given. They also can print to network printers within their local network.
But: As soon as I try to access their TeamViewer (we have v9 installed), all icons appear! I don't need to connect to the workstation, nor do I need to enter the password. So TeamViewer seem to trigger or activate something which wasn't active before.
Not every workstation has this problem, but I couldn't get anything common for all the problem PCs. Different network adapters, different chip sets and so on. And: If one computer has that problem, other identical computers don't need to have it, too.

Maybe this could be interesting: On our locations where the problems appear, users don't have direct access to the internet (hardware firewall denies anything except MS updates for security purposes). They just have access to Citrix and that via IPSEC tunnel to our hosting company. But it couldn't be the main part of the problem, because most PCs don't have the problem at all.

Anyone any idea? I'm sorry but we can't reproduce it. We have to wait until it happens again.

TIA

Hi,
you may want to have a look at this link:

In particular, you should check for "shortcut" into the summary, to jump to section which might be of most interest for you

hope this helps

Max,
thanks for the link. Although I couldn't find information which addresses my current problem, there's much valuable information for daily usage  and more :)

I should state again that our problems are not intentionally reproducable. Clients that work fine most of the time may stop displaying icons at the other day after the user logged on. By choosing 'passthrough authentication' in receiver's options, all defined apps should be on the desktop as soon as the user login finishes. There must be something interfering with that, but not always.
I also checked network adapter settings and the like, but I guess it can't hardly be any static setting because it would either work or fail all the time. I rather think of some 'dynamic' condition, like something with the network, the hard disk, the registry.

Please also note that we're using Receiver v 13.3.0.55 (which is from the 'Info' dialog - should be 3.3.0.55) and Citrix 6.5.

Thanks in advance!
Michael

Max,
thanks - I will try it. I even have to try if the application is runnable from the taskbar when it isn't present on the desktop. I don't know if only the icons are missing or if the entire connection to the application (or Citrix) is broken.

I'll leave a note when it happens again.

Thanks for the hint.
