Outlook 2003 profile using both pop3 and imap

Outlook 2003 SP3 Query

Hi

I wonder if any techies could shed some light on the following issue:

I’m fully aware that Outlook 2003 is no longer supported by Microsoft, however I would like some guidance please.

We have one profile created within Outlook 2003 with 2 email accounts setup within that profile. The first email account is pop3 and downloads to a .pst file. The second account is imap and a separate .pst files exists.

Incoming email is directed to the correct .pst file but irrespective of which email account an email is sent from, the sent email is stored in the pop3 account sent items folder . This means that when other users access the imap account from a different location, they do not see the correct sent items as these reside locally under the pop3 account.

Is this a configuration issue (and if so what needs to be altered) or a restriction of Outlook 2003?

Is there any way this can be addressed without creating 2 separate profiles or upgrading Office?

I look forward to hearing from you.

Many thanks for your prompt responses.

Just for my benefit - From which version onwards did Outlook support full synchronization (including sent items) for IMAP accounts? Was it the introduction of .ost local files for IMAP accounts rather than .pst?

It appears to work okay with Outlook 2016. We have a separate PC with Outlook 2016 installed. This appears to have full synchronization with an IMAP account and access to  a POP3 account under the same profile and this appears to function how we would expect.

Your advice has been great
