Demoting 2008 DC

Hello,

I need to demote one of our domain controllers, it's 2008 R2.  This was the previous FSMO role holder but I successfully migrated those roles to another server last week and all is well and event logs are clean :)

Here is my question:

This server is still a DC and still hosting DNS.  It is also hosting the DFS roots and paths.

Am I still able to demote it and keep it a DNS host and also still manage the DFS roots or should I migrate the DFS roots off and put on another server prior to demoting?

Thank you,

Karen
