Button to auto fill form with previous record

We have an issue where some records entered on the form have the same exact information except for the bottom two fields that are different (Defect quantity and defect doe). Basically I am looking for a way to help our employees so they don't have to type out all the same information twice when they come across these situations. I am thinking maybe having a button that auto fills the form with the information from the last record so they can go in and just edit the last two fields then save that as a new record. I am not exactly sure how to go about doing that. Or if anyone has a better solution to my problem that would be great!
