2012R2 Foundation license compliance
Hello,
I've just installed a 2012R2Foundation with Exchange2016. Works Fine...
Customer has 9 windows user accounts in AD.
Now get a message (translated from French) : License compliance check failed, because the server owns more than 15 local users.
In fact, it looks like all 'SystemMailbox{1f05xxxxxxx xxxxxxx} were taken into account even if these users do not match any physical users.
From what I can see in Technet, such an error would *NOT* lead to server reboot.
...
Windows Server 2012 Foundation is limited to a total of 15 users in Active Directory.
An error occurs when this number is exceeded.
The server will not shut down as a result of this issue.
For steps to remove user accounts from Active Directory Domain Services, see Delete a User Account (http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkId=150361).
...
Could anyone confirm this fact ?
Thank for your help
Francis

Absolutely. Foundation server is limited to 15 users and must be the first domain controller in the domain. i.e. it must retain all FSMO rolls.
