FYI internal FQDN is more required for outlook connectivity. Please check this article. This works for Exchange2016 as well.

thank you, I do have the forward for 123.com and abc.local and I have the autodiscover.123.com and the mail.123.com.  so I also need to create a Cert and assign them as well?

the mail actually works internally. but If I try to send outside it does not

Ensure server has Internet. Ensure your firewall not blocking port 25.

I changed the name space to * and I can send now. cool thanks. Now I should just have to change the godaddy MX file to point to my external IP and I should be able to receive?

by the way, thanks for your help. you're saving my life here. i'm 18 and they just put this in my lap because I know a couple things. :)
