I have 2 sub-reports in my main report, I have shared parameters in both sureports passed to the main report, those parameters are added up together in the main report to create a TOTAL,
The problem is that the subreports have to be in a section before where the total is evaluated, otherwise the total will be 0.
I wanted to make it that when the user clicks the total, even though it's just a formula, it opens the subreport with more details.

Are you trying to show just the subreport?
If so, then no a subreport can be viewed only within the context of the main report.
If you are trying to do something other than view the report, what is it?
