Bootmgr issue with Dell Laptop
I have a Dell laptop that has had ongoing issues with the hard drive and not wanting to boot so we decided to put a new hard drive in it. When I was doing the Windows 7 install, it failed, we shut it off and when it came back up, it says BootMgr is Missing - if we reboot, all we can do when hitting F12 is to boot from the hard drive or the network - even looking at BIOS, I dont see anything about a CD/DVD - on one reboot, that option was there but then it was gone. Thoughts
Go to BIOS >> System Configuration >> Boot Options, and Enabled Legacy Support, save and exit. Test.
what laptop model is it?
can you boot from usb? then an external cd drive can help
possibly your cd drive is bad - reseat it
anyhow - you need to be able to boot from some device

I was able to boot from a Linux CD and then put in Windows, everything loaded fine, but after updating all the drivers, it came back up with the message about that it needed to do a System Recovery - same thing as before with the old hard drive. Thinking there may be more going on with this than meets the eye
Is it using Legacy or UEFI BIOS?
CMOS battery? Try replacing that. You've had missing items in the BIOS. Might be losing configuration details there if the battery is failing.

I am still working on this system but other things have taken priority.
no need to close this - but if you need more help - just post here
BTW, is UEFI mode enabled? Or does your BIOS have it at all?
