As far as my phone, iPhone 6, do I zoom by using the pinch and zoom technique? If so, this does not get much clarity at all. My camera is way better than my iPhone 6, so maybe I am missing something about zooming with the phone.

I happen to live in a hilly area and see some shots about 3 mile away that I wold like to make more clearly.<br />

I recently bought a Canon 25X optical zoom SX620 HS<br />
<br />
which is a pretty handy camera for closer shots and fits nicely into my pocket. I am happy with the camera but would be thrilled if I could get better detail on shots that are 2 to 3 miles away. <br />
<br />
I have not played with any adjustments yet (out of fear) but are there settings that could make picture less granular?<br />
