Acronis Advance Server 11.7 VMWare agent deployment issue
VMWare is version 4.1 (yes, I know it's EoL)
Trying to deploy the VMWare agent via Acronis 11.7 Universal server. I can connect to the host via the deployment tool from the AMS with the root credentials/IP of the Host server, it passes that check. From there, I select the name of the appliance, network configuration (ipv4, including dns name). Once I select "deploy" I see the appliance created on the host, I am able to Console into for a few seconds, the appliance shuts down and becomes "orphaned". I have also tried deploying without the Networking information with no success.
I've reviewed the error logs of Acronis Management Server (AMS) and it states it's a credential issue. I cannot figure it out, it passed the "root" credentials, I've also added the acronis user that are part of both Acronis Security Groups on the AMS to the host in vCenter but that did not work out.
I've review this article: https://kb.acronis.com/content/30467, but it didn't help out.
Article: https://kb.acronis.com/content/16577 states that VMWare ESXi 4.1 is supported.
Needless to say Acronis support has been dragging it's feet in replying to my ticket request with them.

Hi,
From what "Acronis" informed me the appliance has to be installed if you want to use 1 license to back up all the VMs regardless if you go with Agent based (on every VM) or Agentless. It becomes cost prohibitive if I use the Agent based on VMs and needing a separate license for each VM. At least that is how I understood VM Server licensing per Acronis rep and their licensing page.

Hello, I see. Now I understand. Let me have a look at my install.
I would ask Acronis, to test and verify this does work with 4.1, I would be surprised if they even had a 4.1 Host to test on!
4.1 is 5 years old, (based on the last version of it).
I don't believe this:-
4.0 and 4.1! Umm!
and that's to be Expected, they are a Vendor here on EE, so they may respond, and take it further for you!
I find it a bit odd, how Acronis could support anything less than 5.5, because VMware Support do not support anything less than 5.5 now, so how could a vendor hope to get support from VMware on an unsupported product!
It leaves them very exposed, and 11.7 is a new product released recently when 6.5 is available, and would they really dig out a 4.0 and 4.1 system to test, for how many users left on that platform.
Would you like me to test on 4.1 and 4.0 and let you know if it works ? not too sure, when I tell you what you already know!

I was trying to do the same as you posted but was unable to. I am having a different issue trying to connect via the AMS. Sorry.

From what I recall speaking to Acronis told me not to backup the host and hence I only backup the VMs (the clients) and this is the same as you would backup any other VM. Is there a reason why you want to backup the host instead of individual client? Wouldn't you lose granularity if you require to restore just a file/folder from within a VM client?
