Thank you. Could you please be more specific than "whatever they want"? So Ethernet, USB? What else? TCP/IP, UDP? What else?
I'm really looking at what monitoring protocols most importantly. SNMP is a network monitoring protocol,for example. What other network monitoring protocols are particularly popular for monitoring traffic to and from UPS systems?
if they control the hardware and the monitoring software then they can use whatever method to transfer information from the hardware to the software. They used to use the serial interface. The most common is SNMP, but they could any of the other protocols that you have received answers from in your related questions.

how many ways do you have of getting something from point A to point B.. if you say by car, does it matter what make and model of car?
