2016 Datacenter Licencing Query
Hi there, we have the following environment.
We have a new cluster of 4 servers licenced for 2016 Datacenter
We have installed Hyper V Roles and setup the cluster,
All the Virtual servers are 2012 based as our Server Cals are a mix of 2012(60) and 2016(15)
So from my understanding this restricts us to 2012 servers.
If we start to install Virtual Servers as 2016, will we have to upgrade our CALS to 2016? or will our existing ones work?
thanks

Agree with Cliff. The moment a new version OS gets introduced into a production environment the CAL requirement steps up to that new version.
