Problems moving Outlook pst file

I needed to move a pst file. So, after doing a little reading, it seems that the recommended method was as follows:
Close Outlook (2016).
Move the pst file to a new location.
Open Outlook - it will be unable to find the pst file and ask for the location of a pst file. Browse to the new location and select it.

I found that this seemed to work perfectly well - the pst file was found and used as before.

However, I could no longer send or receive emails. Can anyone tell me why?

Thank you

Use the Mail applet in Control Panel to reconfigure your mail profile so it can find the PST in the new location.

Or Try to Repair Outlook Data Files:

Because moving the PST file simply moved just the email store, calendar, task, and etc.  Almost everything BUT the email account settings.  You will have to recreate the account manually and for this you will need the email server info.

All the  email account settings were still in place....and Outlook was set to deliver emails into the inbox of the personal folder / pst file in the new location.
I have another pst file to move on a different computer. Perhaps someone could tell me how they think I should move a pst file and I will give it a go.
Thanks
