Laptop shuts off suddenly although fully charged
I purchased an Asus F555LA-AB31 15.6-Inch Laptop (2.1 GHz Core i3-5010U Processor,4 GB RAM,500 GB Hard Drive, Windows 10), Black from Amazon in 2016. It is my first laptop, so please bear with my stupid questions.
I had it charging overnight. This morning, I turned it on, it worked ok for a few minutes, then shut down ......the screen was black, any lights indicating signs of life were out. What could cause this? Is it a defective laptop? I pretty much keep it charging whenever I am not using it. Please help ASAP. THanks!

That appears to be a hardware problem.
Make sure it is off, start and immediately press F1 several times. Can you get into BIOS?

If it doesn't turn on, then the next step:
1. Volt meter, check the power supply (should read the output voltage, usually 19V)
2. If it checks out, try to start the laptop again, WITHOUT the battery (if removable of course).

Detach the AC adapter, remove the battery, Press and hold the power button for 20 seconds, attach the AC adapter, press the power button to turn it on.

Hi John! It appears the power cord was accidentally pulled out of the electrical outlet! I plugged it in and it started right up. However, should I be leaving the laptop charging all the time when not in use? What is proper way to maintain the battery? Should I use it connected to power source whenever I can? Is there something about this affecting the battery?
