logged in a temporary profile? where are the files ?

Hello all,
one of my users tried logging into the laptop while traveling, and she got the message "you have been logged on using a temporary profile"
she did some work and saved those work in desktop and documents ...
when she came back and notified me, those files and the temp profile, couldn't be located.
any idea where can i look for them ?

This is an easy fix. See link below.

https://kb.uwplatt.edu/page.php?id=33215
You just need to follow the directions in the link. Be careful you will have to modify the registry. I recommend backing it up first.
Another thing you should be able to do is take ownership of the temporary profile

This blog post is a bit dated but has the correct method: TEMP Profile Fix.

Take ownership of the TEMP folder and transfer the files over to the proper profile.
i take it she now works from the usual profile? the temporary one can be caused by the normal one not being accessible

Thank you all,
1- as the Nobus mentioned the temp profile is not under C:\Users so i can't take ownership of it.
2- in the profile list (registry) i couldn't find the .bak and all profiles listed there are of regular users.
When you looked at the profile list in the registry did you see 2 lines that looked the same?

As for missing files, you need to use a undelete program such as FreeUndelete to recover them
www.officerecovery.com/freeundelete/
There is no easy fix.

You need data recovery software.
I think if you take ownership you should find the files. Did you try?
https://www.vistax64.com/general-discussion/214399-how-do-i-restore-files-i-saved-temp-user-profile.html

The above is true from Windows Vista onwards.

Stop using the computer and get its hard disk out and attach it to another computer to do a data recovery.
We posted a number of solutions. Any update?
If you are using the script he gave you that automates the fix I supplied ( comment #a42173063)  there should have been some shared points here. I think all of us here gave you some good suggestions as well.
