mapping a folder in my laptop

Hello Experts,
I am staying at a hotel for a month (work travel)
My laptop is connected to the local wifi.

I need to map a local folder in my laptop as m:
since many applications i have need to use that mapping in order to work

Now not being an expert, first I erased all sharings from COMPMGMT.MSC
fearing someone in the hotel may access my laptop....

then I shared the local folder and added a local user with full rights to the shared and security properpties...
But no I cannot access the folder when i go through NETWORK in win explorer..
and cannt either map the folder although i can see the folder name under its computer in the network...

What can I do so i can map this local folder and havng only my laptop access it ?
Regards

PD working with win10, toshiba laptop core i5

I assume you mean "local" folder back home - is this correct?

You need to have VPN access (or like) to your home machine. If you have not already set this up, there may not be much you can do. Hotels often implement double NAT making access to some other site with VPN a bit tricky.

Hi John
no... its a folder inside the laptop i have here with me....
You do not need to map a folder in your laptop as you already have access.

If you mean someone somewhere else needs access to your laptop, you could set up LogMeIn or TeamViewer on your laptop and someone outside can access with the same tool.

Can you please clarify what access you are trying to provide and to who?

Thanks.
Another way, if you are in control, is to set up Drop Box and give other people access.
yes sure,
here is my problem...

I have a folder in my laptop here with me:   e:\abc
I need to map this folder as m:
that is all

for that I have removed all sharings at COMPMGMT.MSC fearing some intruders.
then I shared folder e:\abc with using a local user with full rights
then I included the local user in security porperties with full rights.

But still cant map.

Hope this is better explanation
Nothing to do with remote locations..
all i need is to be able to map a folder that is inside my laptop here with me....
and map it as metter m;
What did you change in compmgmnt (local security policies)?

Follow this article for mapping a drive letter to a folder

http://www.itworld.com/article/2694895/how-to-map-a-local-folder-to-a-drive-letter-in-windows.html

And then why?  Just use the folder.
if i put EVERYONE in the shared property
the mapping is done perfectly
but then everybody in the hotel can access the folder.
I just need to access the mapping as myself..
No, not at all.

Turn Sharing OFF on your main drive. No one can access it.

You can also add a userid to your system and assign access to it, but that is more complicated.
I read the article, is exaclty what I am doing but then my problem is only I need to access this mapping and by using EVERONE in the propertes many people can see it its too dangerous..
how can I make the mapping wothpout using EVERYONE in the sharing property ?
