Skype has been installed. How do I create unique username and PW for it?
For a W10 computer which is fully up to date.
Run Skype and when it asks for user name, set up a new one. That will work

Thanks, John.
So the new user name can be one I have concocted?

At the window Create Account i now get a message that there is a temporary problem with the service.
I am also given the option of using my email address instead. I tried this before but the address required a password which I cannot find.
And thoughts please?

I just signed onto Skype and it is working.
Shut your computer down (power off), start up, ensure you have good internet and try again. Try a different User Name (new)

Yes. Although there also may be some issue with your Windows 10 machine. Are you using Kaspersky, Avast or.some like Anti virus? Try turning it off.

I use Windows Defender only. I'll try again tomorrow. I'll report back.
I have a machine with Windows Defender and that will not stop Skype which I also have. Please let us know tomorrow.
Tomorrow, if you continue with difficulties, do an in-place Repair Install of Windows 10. Straightforward, select Keep Everything and nothing will be lost.
Go to the Media Creation Link
https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/windows10
Click on Upgrade to Windows 10 (even if Windows 10 is running), click on the Download button, select Open (Run) but NOT Save. It is possible you may need to go to the download location and run the program - it depends on exactly what MCL does (it changes from time to time). Allow the program to run. Allow drivers to update. Then select Keep Everything.

I did so in the early hours of today.
Thank you both for your help, much appreciated.
